BIO
Marcin Gwizdon is a writer and storyteller based in Margate, working across screenplays, graphic novels and film projects.
His work often explores how individuals navigate political, social and environmental systems that quietly shape their lives. His projects range from historical thrillers and allegorical graphic narratives to experimental moving-image work rooted in landscape and seasonal rhythm.
His writing has been recognised internationally, including the Canal+ Special Prize at ScriptPro, and placements in the BBC Writersroom Open Call and the Academy Nicholl Fellowship. In 2023 he was selected for the Canal+/Vivendi × Black List Talent Unlimited Residency, completed the Diplôme Universitaire in Storytelling at Université Côte d’Azur, and received a Developing Your Creative Practice grant from Arts Council England to support the development of new work.
He studied Writing for Media Arts at London South Bank University and has developed projects through workshops and training with organisations including Arvon and the Wajda Film School.
Before focusing fully on writing, he spent many years working in London’s hospitality industry — an environment that sharpened his fascination with human behaviour and the small dramas that unfold when strangers gather.
He has also travelled widely and spent extended time in remote landscapes, from the Scottish Highlands to mountain regions across Europe and South America — environments that continue to shape the atmosphere and themes of his work.
Marcin is currently developing several original projects across film, graphic narrative and moving image, including the graphic novel Animalia-on-Thames and the experimental film project Four Seasons in Margate. He has also served on the pre-selection committee for the Margate Film Festival.
